The next leg of our trip would not be possible it weren't for the dude with the cool vintage prescription sunglasses above. His name is Franco and I met him several years ago on Emory University's campus. He was doing post-doctoral studies and we hit it off instantly. For months we ate, drank wine, talked politics, religion, music and challenged each others ideas.
The sad day came when he had to return to Italy. Four years later we were taking these pictures in his place --an eighth century water mill in the countryside of Tuscany.
